2021 Annual Report
“Hope is Growing in Our Communities” was our chosen theme as we partnered with the National Communities in Bloom Program. The pandemic is still with us. We encouraged the planting of yellow flowers as yellow is the colour of HOPE. We encouraged communities to register to share their gardens of hope, but judging would not be done in person as in previous years. We had seven (7) communities register with submissions of essays and photos all done by emails. They showcased their communities highlighting the 6 criteria, with a 250-word essay and six (6) pictures of their accomplishments as well as planting as many yellow flowers in pots or gardens as they wished.
The seven communities were: Portage la Prairie; Selkirk; Morris; East St. Paul; Niverville; Baldur; and Richer.
These seven submissions were very well done and may be viewed on our website. Our website is being updated by Leech Group.
COVID-19 restrictions were slowly being lifted, so our Manitoba Communities in Bloom board started to rebuild. Manitoba Communities in Bloom Board meetings were done on Zoom once a month. It has been a struggle, but we have survived and are busy looking towards having all of our programs up and running.
2020 Annual Report
